yay new shoes!!!

i bought this a long long time ago, around late 2005. originally meant for street soccer. used to play everyday until poly started. never worn much until september last year when i decided to get my fitness back. been running with it ever since. the left shoelace is from my sister's shoe, hence the colour difference. i couldnt be bothered to fork out $3 for a new pair of shoelaces for an ageing shoe. there's barely any cushion on the sole, so with each footstrike, i hit the ground real hard. painful, but i kinda got used to it. i got my bursary grant thingy from the kind people at LTA, my mom's workplace. i asked her for a part of it to get a new pair of running shoes. before that, i did a shitload of research. there was actually a science to running. surprising.. did a couple of diy tests. through the water test i found out that i have a low-medium arch, which leads to overpronation. the 'wear and tear' test also suggests the same. i know i didn't want big name brands like adidas or nike, coz i'd be paying for brand name rather than the functions. narrowed my choices between asics and mizuno. read in forums that asics' durability is questionable. thus, narrowed it down to mizuno. went to the shop in vivocity yesterday to get my new shoes. i must say the sales people are knowledgable. they do know about pronation control and high arch etc.. it was surprising to say the least. reached home around 9pm. i couldnt wait to run the next morning. woke up at 6am today. went out at 6.30. did a lap around bedok reservoir and then some. i hate running in the morning though. i would feel very groggy. but the shoes made the run a little better. no more ankle pains. yay. it feels like i'm walking on pillows. yea seriously. went out again in the evening to run. same route but i did a wee bit extra. i love my new shoes. signed up for mizuno wave run 2007 in bedok reservoir on 22 july. was planning of making the standard charted 10km race my first race, but hell, just go for this one ah. plus the goodie bag is great. one running singlet and a shoe bag. yay!!
