NPD

I am a complete failure. I succumb so easily to G.A.S. I need a new hobby, or maybe a new girlfriend to blow my money on instead of buying pedals every month and then starving in school because the pedal ate away half of my month's allowance. Anyway, here it is: Second-hand Boss DD-3. Yes. Second-hand. I too was shocked to see it in such immaculate condition. There was barely a scratch on it. Kinda hard to believe that the owner had it for almost a year. Nonetheless, it quenched my G.A.S. big time. Finally, my pedalboard is complete. And to answer the question as to why I need two delays on my board, I can't give you the answer. Because-cause-cause I'm-I'm still-stll-lll search-searcing-ing-ing for-for-or it-itt-it my-myself-self-elf.

Queensway

I have a love/hate affair with Queensway Shopping Mall. On the upside, it is a haven for sports equipment. Whatever your sport is, be it floorball, soccer, tennis and god-forbid, larcrosse, you'd be sure to find whatever you need within the four walls of this tacky mall. The downside, however, is in the layout of all the shops, which can only be described as messy and disorganized, to say the least.

How I'd kill to be in a utopian society whereby all the running stores would be arranged in a single file, just waiting for me to enter and explore it's innards. Instead, I have to negotiate through the extremely complex maze of tiles, weave in and out of narrow paths and experience seemingly endless deja vus, all the while keeping a mental checklist of all the things that I came there to buy and trying my resist the temptation to purchase a want. Being a man though, the thoughts about buying the unnesessary never really crossed my mind.

That goes the same for companions when I'm shopping, or maybe I have to use the more manly term, buying. I find shopping companions 'unnesessary'. I love going to stores on my own. Taking my own sweet fucking time browsing through all their stuff. No pressure from anyone wanting you to make a hasty decision between the 'expensive but nicer-looking' mizuno dri-fit and the 'it does what a shirt's supposed to do' fbt tee. People find it amusing when I tell them that I love shopping on my own, just like how I have no qualms whatsoever when it comes to eating alone outside.

1 running tee, 2 shorts and 5 pairs of socks. Tempted to get another tee but I figured having 6 is already a tad overkill.

Goodbye ADS

Wednesday was my last day. The final time that I would ride my bike to tanah merah. The final time I would board the train choked full of the same M.I., Cedar Girl's and TKGS girls that I would see every 6:40am. The final time that I would alight at Bouna Vista. The final time that I would walk 30 mins to Ayer Rajah Industrial Estate.

The final time I would hear Zhang Qing's awesomely manja-ish voice that melts me every single time. The final time I would say "Wei she mo ni ken wo xiao?" to Hai Yan whenever she sheepishly smiles at me when she walked by my desk. The final time I would stop whatever I was doing when Wendy came in and just stare in awe at her fine legs which she shyly flaunts with her T-skirts. The final time Zhao Wei would attempt to teach me mandarin, which was a challenge because she doesn't speak a word of English. The final time Adam, Joshua and me would laugh at the long queue which would form at the punch card area the moment the clock struck 5:30pm, because we never understood why there was a need to rush.

Thanks for the memorable 9 weeks.

But most importantly, thanks for the 'A' for my ITP grade!!

It's official, I'm a tubescreamer-holic

Then again, many people are.

A little story behind my new purchase.
Now most of you would know that yahoo auctions Singapore isn't exactly the best place to source for deals on guitars and guitar-related gear. I'm not particularly sure what drove me to type 'guitar pedal' on the search box 5 days back, but I'm glad I did. A TS7 tubescreamer popped up. The price was unbelievable. Bidded on it. Won. Emailed the.. Bah.. I'm sure you know the drill. Plugged it immediately when I got home. Amazing little under rated box. Wallet damage was minute: $35.

I never really loved a clean guitar tone. I found them too one-dimensional. That was the main reason why I assigned my MJM Blues Devil as my 'always on' pedal. It gives my tone a little bit of grit and life, without venturing into OD territory. What I love about the Blues Devil is that I can use it as a solo boost just by tweaking the gain knob with my toe. It adds 'hair' without excessive colouration of the original guitar tone. Extremely dynamic to my picking nuances too. Play soft, you get a chimey sparkle. Dig hard, you get this really biting SRV-esque tone.

Now imagine all those attributes and just pump in more tone control and more gain. That's how the TS7 is. And did I mention that it is immensely stack-friendly? Blues Devil (which is essentially a TS with less mid-hump) into the TS7 is just plain godly. Now I understand the logic as to why SRV ran two TS9s in series. Crunchbox pushing the TS7 gives this thick, woolly, almost-fuzz tone which kinda reminds me of the post-chorus lick on Lunarin's 'Legeia'. I think my pedalboard is complete, well, at least for the gain section. :D

I'm eyeing a new amp. Fender Frontman anyone?
